Chateau Bataye

One of the oldest chateaux in the Medoc. In the Pauillac inland area, it is in a good location surrounded by the fields of rated chateaux. The name comes from the "battle" (Bataille in French) of the Hundred Years' War that took place here in 1452. In this struggle, France recaptured the neighboring Château Latour from the British and left an important mark on Bordeaux's history. A few years later, the first vines were planted on this historical site, where blood was spilled in battle, and in 1855 it was classified as Class 5.
