In 1826, Hugh Barton, who owned Chateau Langoa Barton, bought part of Leoville's vast site and founded Chateau Leoville Barton. To this day, it is under the Barton family and is rated as a second-class chateau. Since the rating, the owner has not changed even now, and the 9th generation of the oldest family is in charge.
