Chateau Chas Spleen

This name, which means "to pay off sorrow" in French, is said to be derived from the English poet Lord Byron who gave it when he drank wine from Château Grand Peugeot. After that, when the wine was exhibited at the London World Exposition in 1863, a part of the vineyard came to be called Chas Spleen. In 1976, Jack Merlot, who runs a major Negothian, acquired the chateau. It is now run by his grandson Celine Villars.
